Andrew M. Lang

Headmaster

Headmaster Andrew M. Lang O.C.D.S. is originally from Maple Grove, MN. He obtained a B.A. in Liberal Arts at Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, CA. He obtained an M.A. in Philosophy with Honors from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley, CA. He has previously worked as an admissions counselor, a pastoral associate, and a teacher. He considers it providential that he left his Minnesota home to pursue authentic classical Catholic education only to return to lead the Holy Spirit Academy community in the same mission in 2016. He became a fully professed secular discalced Carmelite in 2019. He obtained a certificate in Catholic School Leadership from the University of St. Thomas’s School of Divinity in 2020. He and his wife Alyssa have eight children, four boys and four girls. The Lang family lives in Maple Lake and are members of the Church of St. Timothy. Mr. Lang fills his free time with his nose in a book (naturally), hunting and fishing, gardening, playing chess, tinkering on vintage cars, and getting up to the family cabin in Crosslake.

Stephen House

Business Director | Chemistry Teacher

Dr. Stephen House obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Eastern Kentucky University and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from The Ohio State University. After a 27 year career at General Mills, he retired and turned to teaching as a new vocation. After a year as an Adjunct Instructor of Chemistry at Concordia University in St. Paul, he accepted the Chemistry teacher position at Holy Spirit Academy, and has most recently stepped into a leadership role as Business Director. Dr. House is a convert to the Catholic Church (2006). He is active in his parish of St. Michael (St. Michael), where he coordinates the Eucharistic Adoration chapel; is coordinator of the RCIA program; and is a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He and his wife Sharon live in St. Michael and have three sons and two daughters-in-law.

Kelly Buboltz

Marketing and Development Director

Mrs. Kelly Buboltz has over 10 years of marketing, project management and event planning experience, in both product and service-based industries, where she has supported both domestic and international markets. She earned her B.S. in Communication Studies, with minors in Marketing and Community Studies from St. Cloud State University. Mrs. Buboltz and her husband are blessed with three children and attend the Church of St. Luke, where she is active in Children’s Liturgy. In her free time she enjoys sharing her love of photography and all things herbal with her family, along with capturing peace and rest through prayer and reflection with faith inspired books.

Mary Nordin

Administrative Manager

Mrs. Mary Nordin is serving as our new Administrative Manager. Originally from Albertville, MN, she currently resides in Becker with her husband. She has two grown children and six grandchildren. She is an active member of St. Henry’s Parish where she is involved with the Baptismal Program, Eucharistic Adoration, an Extraordinary Minister and volunteers with the Knights of Columbus, with whom her husband is a member. Previously an Administrative Assistant with a company for over 14 years, she has a wide range of experience. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking, biking, and taking in nature.

Therese McCoy

Marketing and Development Coordinator

Therese McCoy comes to Holy Spirit Academy with a variety of writing and work experience. She has recently graduated from Lawrence University with a BA in English and minor in Music. During her free time, she enjoys any kind of tea, singing, and reading old books.

Emma Crane

Choir Teacher

Miss Emma Crane is originally from Elk River, MN. She graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN with a degree in Vocal Music Education and a minor in Catholic Studies. She has experience as a professional accompanist, cantor, composer, and music educator, and most recently had the privilege of living for a year and a half in religious life. Miss Crane has a devotion to the Archangel Gabriel, the Holy Family, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She delights in the Minnesota Twins, her nieces and nephew, cross country skiing, and encountering beauty wherever it can be found.

Eileen Hester

Dean of Academics | Theology and Humanities

Mrs. Eileen Hester has over 20 years of teaching experience both in the classroom and in homeschooling. She earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Theology from Christendom College and her Masters degree in Theology (Summa Cum Laude) with a concentration in Dogmatic Theology from Holy Apostles College and Seminary. As a Secular Carmelite living in a family of educators, the life of the mind and of the heart has been central to her personal and vocational formation. As a Theology and Humanities teacher, as well as the Dean of Academics, it is this life and love that she seeks to inspire in her students as they navigate their highschool years and discern God’s will in their lives.

Zachary Holton

Activities Director | Mathematics and Science

Mr. Zachary Holton teaches full-time at HSA as the underclassmen Math and Science teacher. He has a BS in Health and Physical Education from St. Cloud State University. He comes with four years of teaching and coaching experience. He is a recent convert to Catholicism, a St. Henry’s parishioner, and a father of two.

Heather Winkels

Guidance Counselor | Mathematics

Mrs. Winkels grew up on the shore of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin. While earning her degrees in Mathematics and Catholic Studies, Mrs. Winkels focused her mathematical research on Zero-Forcing of Hierarchical Graph Products and explored the impact of the Incarnation on the philosophy of mathematics.  With a background in teaching middle school math, Mrs. Winkels currently serves as the mathematics teacher and Guidance Counselor at Holy Spirit Academy. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Winkels enjoys hiking, reading, and is an active member of the Church of St. Mary in Lowertown St. Paul.

Jonah Lippert

Theology and Humanities

Mr. Lippert grew up in Easton, MN, with his parents and 11 siblings. He was happily married to his wife Jenny in the Summer of 2018. Homeschooled into High School, his loves for literature and philosophy, theology, history, and apologetics were put to use, challenged, and deepened during PSEO classes at Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, MN), from which he transferred after senior year of high school to St. Mary’s University (Winona, MN). From St. Mary’s he graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy, completing a thesis dealing with Objective Aesthetics & the Utility of the Liberal Arts. Continuing his studies at the Augustine Institute (Denver, CO) he earned an M.A. in Theology with an emphasis in Catechetics. Teaching Latin for 3 years at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Classical School (Denver, CO), he also has experience as a Latin and Logic instructor at several homeschooling co-operatives. He sees the Classical model as a return to the original goals of education—those goals being the maturing and equipping of human character–the pursuit and communication of that which is most helpful, true, good and beautiful, in the most organic and effective ways, whether they be old or new.

Eric Menzhuber

Studio Arts

Mr. Menzhuber is an accomplished artist who combines his tremendous talents with a love for the Church. Growing up in St. Paul, Mr. Menzhuber fostered his love of drawing from a very early age. In 1998 he graduated from the University of St. Thomas earning a B.A. in Art History. He went on to study Theology at the Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity and then found the Minnesota River School of Fine Art in Burnsville, Minnesota. There, Eric devoted himself to the study of realism and painting in oil. In 2003 He became an instructor at the same institution. He entered his first show in 2004 “The Burnsville Area Society for the Arts (BASA) Art Fete” and was awarded the “People’s Choice award.” Since that time, he has won several local awards and has painted commissioned works for collections both public and private throughout the metro area including for several Catholic churches. Eric and his wife, Tricia, and three daughters live in Blaine.

Susan Steinke

Latin

Mrs. Susan Steinke has been involved with Catholic education through schools and homeschool communities for two decades. With a B.A. in Honors Classics from Gustavus Adolphus College, she has taught a variety of subjects to a variety of ages, including Latin with kindergartners, fine arts appreciation with elementary and middle school students, and American history and literature with seniors. She is blessed to be teaching Latin to the students at Holy Spirit Academy. In addition to her work at HSA, Mrs. Steinke also helps to facilitate a homeschool organization which connects Catholic families with Catholic tutors. Mrs. Steinke and her husband reside in Greenfield, where they live on a farm with their three children. They are members of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Delano. She is excited to be attending the Catechetical Institute, and looks forward to integrating her deepening understanding of the faith into her role in the classroom.

Austin Welsh

Dean of Students | Humanities

Mr. Austin Welsh has over a decade of experience teaching at the high school level, and currently teaches our Geometry and Ancient Humanities courses. He received his B.A. in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College in California, and his M.A. in Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mr. Welsh has previously taught a wide variety of courses including Algebra II, Physics, Ancient Literature, Composition, Theology, U.S. Government, and several others. He also has experience in school administration and will be entering a new role as the Dean of Students helping to oversee discipline. He and his wife Marissa have two children.
